10 for 10 Monthly Update

Happy Veggie-versary to me!

Yes, today is my 6 month Veggie-versary.  I can not believe that I have not had meat for 6 whole months.  I do miss it sometimes.  Like when I am watching Masterchef and they are making all these amazing dishes with meat as the feature.  Or when I am starving and just want a hot dog.  But on the whole it has been a great experience and something I will continue with.  For now. :o)

I can't believe we have already gone through 4 months of this year.  In some ways it has flown by but in others it seems to have taken forever.  The older I get the quicker the years seem to pass me by.  So, how did I go in April?

10 For 10 - April

1) Run/walk the Mothers Day Classic in May
I run this in 10 days.  I have done the training and I am ready!

2) Ride at least 3000kms
I rode another 253.58kms which brings me to a grand total of 566.21kms for the year.  Not quite where I should be, but a significant improvement on last month.

3) Finish the knitted blankets
I finished another 11 squares which takes me to a total of 70.  Only 26 more to go then I can start putting these together!

4) Lose 30 kilos
I have not weighed in so I have no idea where I am at with this.  My shape has definitely changed with all the running, but I am not sure that this has reflected on the scales.  I'll weigh in next month!

6) Send at least one children's story to a publisher
The story is almost complete and I have chosen the Publisher.  This will happen within the next 6 weeks.  I am terrified, but excited all at the same time.

I am also 25 days into my Day Zero Project.  The scariest thing about this project, is that I know that in 976 days I will be 40 years old.  It is making my age seem very real to me!  LOL  I really need to complete between 2 and 4 things each month for this to work.  This month I have completed 2 - I went to a Comedy Club, and I joined a Running Club (or am in the process of).  However I have a lot of things that are 'in progress' so I am definitely moving forward with it.

That's it for me today.  Tomorrow Ross & I are having a Date Day instead of a Date Night and are going to the Medieval Fair in Gumeracha.  Thankfully there are buses out there so we can get there since our car is still basically a garage ornament.  We went 2 years ago and loved it.  We were meant to go last year as well, but today is the day, 1 year ago, that Ross's lung collapsed, so we weren't able to make it.  Thankfully he is completely healed and we are looking forward to a great day tomorrow.

Have a great weekend everyone!

More Running

Sorry my posts are all about running lately.  I promise there will be other things soon.  We are going to a Medieval Fair on the weekend so there will be lots of cool photos from that.  But for now - running.

Firstly - I have joined a running club.  At least, I have sent the paperwork off and am waiting for my membership confirmation.  The first thing I am going to do is their Start Running Class.  I won't be starting until after the MDC which means I go in on week 4 of the 8 week class.  I have spoken with the instructor (by email) and told him where I am up to with my running, and he feels that coming in on week 4 will be fine.  They will not be doing the same times I am doing, however they will probably be a bit faster, so I will hopefully be able to use their shorter runs at a higher intensity to bring my speed up.

I am really nervous about it, but I am also excited.  Once I have done the Start Running Class I am hoping to join in on one of their weekly group runs.  The SARRC (South Australian Road Runners Club) is the biggest running group in the state and they have group runs 6 days a week.  They also host the Adelaide Marathon as well as several other runs throughout the year, including the Hills to Henley and Glenelg Classic that I have already decided to do this year.

Last night I did my mid-week run.  I rode home first, had a bit of apple, changed my shoes and was back out on the road within 10 minutes.  We decided to tackle our new 5.1km run.  The start of the run was hard.  My legs were a bit iffy from the ride (into a head wind) and I was tired.  But I persisted.  Every time I was ready to stop it was too dark to see my watch to make sure I had done at least 15 minutes so I kept going.  And going.  And going.  By the time I saw my watch it was 28 minutes, so I kept going until I hit the 30 minute mark then stopped.

30 minutes without stopping - I ROCK!!!!!!

I told Ross that was it and I was walking the rest of the way.  But 10 minutes later I took off again and ran the rest of the way home.  My stats were:
Run 30 minutes - 2.9kms
Walk 10 minutes - 800m
Run 15 minutes 20 seconds - 1.4kms

A bit slower than normal, but considering I had just come off a 35 minute bike ride and the distance was longer than normal, I was pleased with that.

This morning I woke up feeling VERY stiff and sore.  But I still had a smile on my face coz, hell - I ran 4.3kms!  LOL  A hot shower eased some of the stiffness, but I was dreading the ride to work.  Surprisingly the ride was good (thanks Mel for the tip about having half an apple, has changed my morning rides completely!).  My legs loosened within the first km and the ride was really pleasant.  I am wishing I wasn't going to be sitting behind a desk for 10 hours today, but I will try and get up and walk around as much as possible.

Hope everyone has an awesome day!

Races Picked

Since the MDC is only a week and a half away, I decided to look forward and see what other runs I can work towards this year.  I came up with 4 runs in total, 2 of which I had already planned on doing.  They are:

Sunday May 9
Mothers Day Classic - 4.5kms

Sunday July 18
Hills to Henley - 6kms

Sunday September 19
City-Bay - 12 kms

Sunday November 14
Glenelg Classic - 10 kms

In the middle of this, in October, we are doing a 5 day hike along the Heyson Trail.

The reason for planning these is that I know I need something to work towards or else I just kinda lose focus.  Also, this means that by the end of this year I will have done 2 x 10km+ distances which is 1/4 of a marathon length.  Next year I will do a half marathon, although I haven't picked which one yet.

My basic plan is that once the MDC is over I keep working on my distances until I can run a whole 5kms.  After that I will work on speed for a while and I am going to start incorporating some sprint work into my runs for this.  Add in some longer bike rides and some hill hiking and I think my legs should get stronger fast enough that I can handle these distances.  For the City-Bay (12km) I don't mind if I run/walk, but for the Glenelg Classic (10km) I would like to run the whole way.

I can't believe how much I am getting in to the whole running thing.  I picked up some running magazines and I have devoured them.  Which is kinda weird coz as much as I love cycling, I hate cycling magazines.  I find them boring and tedious.

Tonight I am changing my weeknight run.  I normally run from work then ride home.  Today I am riding home then running.  Ross is coming with me and we are going to do a 5km circuit we have mapped out from home.  Since I will already by warm from the ride I will start running from home rather than walking first.  I am not aiming for a PB today, I will be happy with 2 x 15 minute runs and I will go harder on the weekend run.

Till later!

Long Weekend

I love long weekends.  That extra day makes so much difference.  I wish I could afford to cut back to 4 days at work and have a long weekend all the time.  How nice would that be.  :o)

Sunday morning we got up and jumped on the tram into the city.  We went to Hudsons for a morning coffee.  I haven't been there in ages, and I have to say, I prefer Gloria Jeans, but it was okay.  Then we were off to Mums on the bus.  Although the ANZAC Day Parade had messed around with the bus schedule.  We jumped on the first bus out of the city heading in the right direction.  When we got to a spot we were familiar with we jumped off and started walking.  After a while we called Mum and she came and got us from where we were.

First stop, to see my SIL for her birthday.  Then back to Mums for lunch.  Spinach & Ricotta Gnocchi.  OMG it was FANTASTIC!  I'll make it myself soon and post the recipe for you.  Then over to my sisters to see my nephew for his birthday.  By the time we got back on the bus, then the tram and got home it was after 6 and we were starving.  Di had made Pumpkin soup which was a fantastic way to end the day!

Monday the plan was to go for a bike ride, but I woke up feeling very fatigued and very sore.  All over.  Everything ached.  And I was exhausted.  I have no idea why but the day ended up being a DVD day.  I was tired and achey the whole day and ended up in bed by 9pm.

This morning I feel better, although still a little tired.  I guess my body just needed a break.

I now have 2 weeks till the MDC and I am getting nervous.  I know I will be fine.  I can do the distance and although I am slow I know I can run for at least half of it.  I just need to do my last few runs, relax, and enjoy it all.

One last thing that I forgot to mention in Saturdays blog.  On Wednesday I blogged about the Evils of Diet Coke and how I had had way too much and as a result felt ill.  By Friday I was ready to have a little bit again.  I got a 600ml bottle.  Within 10 minutes of starting it I started to feel ick.  I was sweating, I was feeling bloated, my concentration was off, and I felt generally unwell.  I ended up throwing half of it away.  I don't know what has happened in me but I am so off of that stuff.  Finally!  After trying to kick it for so long.  I have been drinking tea for my caffeine hit, although I realised when I went to bed last night that I had not had any caffeine at all yesterday.  This morning I don't have any headaches, which hopefully means I am no longer addicted tot he evil stuff.  YAY!

35 Minutes

This weekend so far has been great.  Started last night with my night out which started with dinner and shopping with Em.  As always we had a great evening.  From there Ross & I headed off for the Rhino Room to see a Comedy Show.  What a sensational evening!  A couple of the comedians were only average, but most were great and the headline was awesome.  We had such a great night!  And I finally marked the first thing off of my Day Zero Project List!

This morning we got up and went to Emma's (a different Emma to the one we saw last night).  We have had some of our things at her place for a few months in storage.  Now that we have a storage shed it was time to get it all out so that she could have her shed back.  We had a quick catch up then did a couple of trips back and forth between her place and storage.

By the time all that was done we were starving, so off the Mama Carmelas for a vego pizza for lunch.  Now normally when we have a pizza we have 4 pieces each as well as a couple of pieces of garlic bread, and often there is room for ice cream.  Not today.  One piece of garlic bread, 3 pieces of pizza, and I was completely full!  Very unusual for me.  But I guess one of the side effects of being sick for over 2 weeks.

By the time we got home we were exhausted.  So we decided to have a sit on the couch.  After about 10 minutes I suddenly felt like going for a run.  I haven't been out for a week, so I got my ankle braces and my shoes on, and off I went.

I walked for 6 minutes, then started my shuffle-run.  Don't ask me where this came from, but I somehow managed 20 minutes!  I did approx 2kms without stopping.  I walked for 5 minutes then started running again.  I ran all the way home, which took another 15 minutes and was approx 1.5kms.  So in total I ran for 35 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am staying steady on 6kmph, which I know is what a lot of people walk at, but I really don't care.  I am running and I am running for over half an hour and that is all that matters.

It's hard to believe that only 4 months ago I was struggling to run for 45 seconds.  And just 3 months ago 1.5 minutes felt like the end of the world.  And I was stuck on 1.5 minutes for ages without improving.  It killed me.  Now I can do a 20 minute run!  What an achievement.

I also found the 2 PERFECT running songs for me.  'It's Raining Men' by The Weathergirls, and 'Hey, Baby' by DJ Oritz.  Both have the perfect beat for me and I felt amazing running to them.

Tonight the plan was to make a Pavlova, but it was 5.15 by the time I got back from my run and they take a couple of hours to cook, so I decided I'll do it Monday.  Dinner was Quesadillas.  I have never made them before, in fact, I have never had them before, and I didn't have a recipe....  But I saw a photo of them on Amanda's blog and thought they looked yummy.  So I made up a recipe and gave it a shot.

I call it Spinach & Mushroom Quesadillas with Lentils.  And it was absolutely DELICIOUS!  So quick and easy, and so yummy and filling.  We will definitely be having this again.

Off to bed soon for an early night with a good book.  Tomorrow we are off to see our nephew for his 7th birthday.  Geez, they grow up so fast.

Hope everyone is having a great long weekend, and you all take a moment tomorrow to give some thought to our Diggers for ANZAC Day.

Getting There

Yesterday was a strange day.  I went from feeling completely blah, to feeling fine, to feeling blah again.  One of the other guys in the office is still getting tummy pains from the original gastro so it is obviously just a yucky one that is hanging around.  But ever the one to fight these things I went out and bought some pine-o-cleen anti-bacterial wipes and some Glen 20 and I went to work.  I wiped down everything we may have touched or breathed on in the last 2 weeks, from the buttons on the fax machine, to  door handles and light switches, to the alarm key pad.  Then I Glen 20'd the whole office before I left last night.

When I got home I did the same.  I am determined to be feeling 100% asap so I can get out there for a run.  As weird as this sounds coming from me, I miss it.  While it does still hurt and I still fight against my ingrained innate laziness, I get such a sense of accomplishment from doing a run that it makes it all worthwhile.  I just need to feel okay again so I can get out there.

I am looking forward to this long weekend.  We have things planned, but nothing really set in stone so we can just go with the flow and see what comes up.  Tonight is Date Night and we are going to see a comedy show after a catch up with Em first.

Just realised I haven't done my Daily Goals in a while so here goes:
1)  Stop procrastinating and actually get stuck into my work
2)  1.5L of water
3)  No DC or PM
4)  Clean out the bottles from under my desk
5)  Get the office dishes done coz noone else is gonna do it and the kitchenette is starting to stink

I hope everyone enjoys their long weekend, and I will catch up next week!

Tummy aches are back. :o(  No run last night.  Painful evening.  Bit of sleep.  Slow painful ride to work this morning...

If this doesn't disappear soon I may have to go to the *gasp* Doctor...  :o(

More later.

Diet Coke is Evil….

Well, that’s really a given isn’t it. We all know this. Yet I have long succumbed to the unexplainable addiction to this thing we call Diet Coke (or Pepsi max, I’m not fussy) ;)

I have been really really good in the last couple of months since getting my soda stream. I’ll have a DC or a PM when we are out, and the occasional one at work, but other than that I am good. I get bubbles from the SS and caffeine from tea and the occasional DC/PM.

So why on earth did I choose to drink 3 x 600ml bottles of DC yesterday? What the hell was I thinking??????? I slept like crap last night, and this morning I have felt so ill. I am SO dehydrated. Riding to work was awful. I felt so sick that after just 3kms I wanted to go home. Luckily I was near a Deli so I went in and bought an ice cold water. A couple of mouthfuls and I instantly started to feel better. I needed cold water clearly.

By the time I got to work I had drunk half the water bottle and was starting to feel human again. Although I am still not feeling that great. But it is self-inflicted so I don’t get any sympathy from myself or anyone else. I should have known better. I DO know better. I guess I just needed a reminder.

The weird thing is, I think I used to feel like that quite a lot. Not every day, but often. I was just so used to it that I ignored it.

So today is a no-DC/PM day. So is tomorrow. If I need caffeine I can have a cup of tea. But I need to get this crap out of my system.

OK, whinge over.

Tonight I am going for a run. My butt muscle has been a bit tight for the last few days, so I am not going for a PB, but would like to do 2 x 10 minute runs. LOL – I just read that back. Here is me – Kylie – saying I “just” want to run for 20 minutes! Who is this person and what did she do with the real Kylie?????? LOL

This weekend is going to be great. Friday night we are catching up with Em in the city for a coffee and possibly some dinner. Then Ross & I are finally having Aprils Date Night and are going to the Rhino Room to see some stand up comedy. Saturday we have some errands in the morning then I am going to attempt to make my first ever pavlova from scratch. Sunday is my nephews birthday. And Monday (how I love public holidays) we are going to go on a bike ride along the beach. I can’t wait!

Sunsets

Last night as we left Big W we were confronted with a gorgeous red and orange sky.  Of course, I had no camera, so this was taken on my phone.  Trust me when I say, it was 1000 times more beautiful than this.

Today is Bob's Birthday.  Bob was Ross's Dad, and it is his first birthday since he passed away last year.  We have decided to have fish & chips (just the chips for me) on the beach with his Mum in honour of the birthday.  Ross was a bit sad this morning, but that is understandable.  I think it is important that we do remember his birthday and do something that Bob would have enjoyed.

Yesterday for some reason I was hanging to go out for a run.  But I know that I need 2 days rest after a run so I didn't.  I am glad I didn't because this morning my legs were tired, heavy and sore on the ride to work.  They should be fine for tomorrow night though.

Animals, Cooking, Good Friends, Running and Cupcakes

We have had a great weekend.  It started Friday night when we went into the city and had some dinner and a wander.  Yesterday morning we caught the tram to Gaganis to stock up on a few things, then got back on the tram to go to Coles.  We stopped for lunch at Glenelg Pizza Bar and split a yummy vego pizza.

When we got home we played with the animals for a while.

Last night the lovely Em came for dinner.  I haven't cooked anything new for ages and have been hanging to try something new.  I searched online and found some great recipes.  We started with Lemon & Broccoli Risotto.

Followed by a delicious Caramel muffin served with Chocolate Risotto.

They were so yummy and everyone seemed to enjoy them.

This morning I went for a run with Ross.
Previous PB - 8 + 9 = 19
New PB - 12 + 15 = 27

Yep - you read that right - 27 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We did 4.5kms in 48 minutes, and in total I ran approx 2.7 kms.  I am still really slow, but I am really enjoying it.  Once I get started I get into a rythym (albeit a slow one) and then I really have fun.

One thing I have noticed though, is that I run better if I only run twice a week.  Three times a week and I seem to get a bit niggly with my feet and knees, but twice a week and I improve every time I run.  So from now on I'll aim for Wednesdays and once on the weekends.

This afternoon I made cupcakes.  I have always loved those fancy decorated cupcakes.  There are heaps of books and kits on them these days, but I didn't go out and buy any.  I just decided to get a recipe, some decorations, and have a bash at them.  Some turned out pretty crappy, but a few looked okay.  No matter what they looked like, they taste devine!

Tonight we are having leftover risotto, then I'm going to kick back and watch the Biggest Loser finale.  Like I said - a great weekend.

Just a quick one

Sorry about being absent this week. That tummy bug I had on the weekend came back and brought it’s tummy bug friends to party. Today is the first day I am starting to feel human again.

So I haven’t ridden, or run, or done anything really, other than lay on the couch and moan. I have made a few short trips into work, just because the stress about the work piling up was making the tummy clenches worse. But mostly, I have been laying on the couch and moaning.

Of course, now Ross has it, although his seems to be much milder thankfully. We were planning a big bike ride this weekend, but I would say it is unlikely either of us will be capable, but we will see how we feel on Sunday.

Hope everyone has had a fabulous week. I will catch up on all your blogs soon.

Thanks for the Positive Running Vibes

They definitely helped.  So it had been 2 weeks since my last run.  My previous best was 6 minutes backed up by 6 minutes.  My goal for yesterday was to match that.

First run, 8 minutes.  Felt like my lungs were going to explode and my heart was nearly cracking ribs.  But still - 8 minutes.  I am already impressed with myself.

Turn around for the down hill (I say downhill but it is very very slight).  Start running.  Feeling good.  Look at my watch, wow - 5 minutes already!  Keep going.  And going.  Get to 9 minutes 30 second and decide to go to 10 minutes.  Look at my watch again and I am at 10 minutes 15 seconeds.  What the hell, I'll go for 11.

10.45
10.46
10.47
10.48
Bloody hell will this minute ever finish????
10.49
10.50
YAY! 10 more seconds
10.51
10.52
10.53
Jesus are you kidding me, how slow do these seconds want to tick over
10.54
10.55
10.56
Holy shit, I can't breathe, I am going to die
10.57
10.58
HELP!
10.59
11.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I AM A FREAKING LEGEND!!!!!!!!

LOL!  I am so over the moon stoked by that run.  19 minutes all up.  Talk about incredible.  I don't think I ever in a million years thought I would be able to run for 19 minutes within a 45 minute session.  Ok, so my running style is very reminiscent of Caitlin from The Biggest Loser - but who cares!  I did it and that is the main thing.

I can't explain what it was but I felt different during this run.  I am not sure hw to explain this but I will give it a go.  Usually when I run I feel like I am low to the ground.  Like my centre of gravity is quite low and I am almost dragging myself through.  This time I felt lighter and 'higher'.  That may not make sense but I don't know any other way to describe it.  I felt like I was taller, and it obviously helped.  I hope I can capture that again on Wednesday.

When I got back to the office to pick up my bike, the tummy pains from the weekend were back.  Buggar.  I am still feeling a bit ill this morning as well.  Hopefully it passes soon.

On a different note, I need help with morning food.  I am struggling riding to work in the mornings.  This is a ride I can do easily at any other time of the day, but not in the mornings and I think it is because I haven't eaten.  I have tried having a banana or yogurt before riding and it just sits in my stomach and makes me feel ill.  So I need some advice.  I need something that is only about 50-60 calories that will help me on my ride but won't 'sit' in my tummy half an hour later.  I am willing to try anything!

Hope you all have a great day

Cycling, Cooking, Drawing and Running

I ended up having a really good day yesterday.  We got on the deadly treadlies and rode to the flat.  It has been quite a while since we have gone riding together, and it truly was fantastic.  We cleaned the flat - only a few things left to do - helped Mum set up her new internet - then headed home.

The ride home was into a killer head wind, but we rode most of it on the bike paths and enjoyed being together.  All up we did around 25kms in the day.  And when I got home I felt good.  I could have done more.  Over the next long weekend when we actually have some free time, we are going to have a big riding day.  It was so great to get back out there.

Already this month I have ridden more kms than I did in the entire month of March!  I am on fire baby!

I spent the afternoon drawing and playing with our Derwent Artist Coloured pencils.  I really haven't used them since we got them at Xmas.  I am slowly working on my first coloured drawing.  I'll share it when it is done.

Dinner was late and I made a super Quick & Easy Vegetarian Speghetti Bolognaise.  It was SOOOOO quick and easy and really did taste great.  Click here for the recipe.  It was a slap dash dinner that I expected to be average at best, but I guarantee I will be making it again.  My MIL even asked for the recipe, and was stunned that there was no meat in it!

Tonight I plan on going for my first run in 2 weeks.  I now have less than 4 weeks until the Mothers Day Classic and I am starting to freak.  My achilles seems to be better so I will just see how I go.  Any pain and I will stop.  Everyone send me positive running vibes though please.  :o)

Productive Day

Well, despite being unwell yesterday, it ended up being a very productive day.  After getting my recipes udated both on my blog and on my own computer, I decided it was time to do some work.  I did some work on the childrens story I am currently editting, and then I did some long overdue research into possible Publishers.  I am pleased with the progress of the story, although it does still need some work.  And I have chosen 2 Publishers to send it to, I just need to decide which one to go to first.

I spent the afternoon after my work was done knitting and chilling out, trying to will myself better so I could go out last night.

Didn't happen.

I was so disappointed.  Not only is the band about to go on their US Tour which means they won't be performing in SA again till the end of the year, I didn't get to wear my new shoes or my new outfit.  But, Date Night has been rescheduled to next weekend so I can wear it all then.  :o)

This morning I am still feeling a little "tender" in the tummy, but I am going to ride to the flat to clean anyway.  I don't have a whole lot of choice as it has to be done.  But I will just take it easy.

Shopping, Shoes, Tummy Aches, and Recipes

I had a very full weekend planned.  I am a planner and a list person, and I like things to go according to my plans.  Perhaps one of the lessons I need to learn is that not everything goes according to plan, and that is okay....

Last night Ross & I decided to meet in the city after work as I was in desperate need of a new pair of jeans.  We wandered around for an hour or so, just talking, browsing, and having a good night.  We decided it was time to get some dinner, so headed to the City X Food Mall to see if they could feed a starving vegetarian.  While we were wandering around, Ross noticed the lovely Em in line for some dinner of her own!  We ended up having dinner with her and her partner which was great!

After dinner her partner had to leave, so Em stuck with us for a night of shopping!  I finally found a pair of jeans that fit, felt good, and looked okay, and the bonus was, they were on sale!  I also got a new cardy to wear out tonight.

Em found several bargains of her own, and while she was trying on her jeans, I found the funkiest pair of pink slip on shoes!  I have never owned pink shoes before.  In fact, all my shoes are either sneakers or black functional shoes.  But these were great, and after a lot of umm-ing and ahh-ing, and some significant persuasion from Em & Ross, pink shoes were bought!

We had a great night, as we always do when we see Em, but soon it was time to head home.

I was on the bike and Ross was on the tram as we had both come from work.  We left the city together, I headed out on the bike & Ross headed for the tram station.  By the time I was out of the city itself, no tram had come by, so I decided to ride my little heart out to try and beat Ross home, or at least not be too far behind him.  I had a slight down hill and the Gods were smiling at me as I got every green light.  I rode the full 10kms without a stop, busting my butt.  I don't know how long it took, but at a guess under half an hour, as I somehow managed to beat Ross home!  WOOHOOO!!!!!  I decided to sit out the front and wait for him.  It was nearly 10 minutes later that he walked through the front gate.  Yes, I gloated a little.  LOL

The plan for today was to head out early to the flat and do some final packing of the bits that are still there, then go to a workshop at a Psychic Fair I have been looking forward to.  However about 6am I knew the plans were going to change.  The first stages of gut clenching stomach cramps that accompany gastro.  I got up, got some water, then laid down again and tried hard to Reiki my stomach to ease the pain.  It must have worked as I drifted back to sleep for a while.

The cramps have eased, and the gastro has not taken hold, however a 12km bike ride to the flat then the Fair is not going to happen.  Ross is heading over there himself to do some cleaning and I am sitting here, sipping water, trying to breathe through the cramps.

It is nearly lunch time and I haven't been to the loo in over an hour, so I am guessing it was just a very mild case and Ill be fine soon.  Hopefully I can still head out tonight, but I will wait and see how I feel.

I have spent the morning updating my recipe page  So you can now head over there for Quiche Lorraine, Boston Baked Beans, Indian Style Beans, Tofu with Peas, Tiramisu, Sushi, & Tofu Balls.

Perhaps this tummy pain was my body reminding me that I haven't stipped for several weeks, and now it is time.  I will finish at the flat tomorrow, but for today I will just relax.  If I am feeing better I will head out tonight to see the band, as I can just sit and enjoy.

Feeling Inspired

Does anyone watch The Biggest loser?

I don’t watch it religiously but I do like it. The last 2 nights they have run the Marathon. Now can I just say – WOW!

These people are incredible. ALL of them finished (well, nearly all, but I was not surprised about Romi dropping out). Caitlin, who is still over 130 kgs, did it in 8 hours.

EIGHT HOURS!!!!!!!!!!

That is freaking incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who cares if she walked most of it, she just moved for 8 hours and covered 42 freaking kilometers!!!!!!!!

Yes, there is an overuse of punctuation happening in this blog, but these people are so amazing.

I am inspired, yet again, to keep moving my fat arse.

They got ready for this in only about 6 months. Surely I can do it in 2 years.

Time to up the ante. If I can’t run, I can walk. Time to move that bootie!

First up, I desperately need new sneakers. Mine are about a size too big and hurt. Unfortunately this needs to wait until next month as the $$$$ have already run out for this month, but I have to make them a priority.

I am inspired.

:o)

NB:  Can anyone point me in the right direction for some core strengthening exercise I can do at home.  I have a fit ball.  Thanks :o)

This and That

Hello Blogging World. I have been very quiet of late. No particular reason, just really because I haven’t had a whole lot to say.

I haven’t been running for the last week and a half or so as I have had some tenderness in my Achilles so I thought I would rest it. I am hoping to get back into it this weekend.

My cycling however, is going great. The best thing about our move is that I now ride in a day just commuting to and from work, what I used to ride in 3 days. Approx 17kms each day, and that is if I go straight there and back, which of course I haven’t been. I am feeling it, but I am also loving it.

Food has been bad bad bad. No further comments required….

I got my Road ID in the mail yesterday. Thanks again to Jess and Ellen for putting me onto it. It is pink and I love it!

I also got my portable massage table this week, which means I can start doing proper Reiki. Of course, our car decided to pick this week to break down (again, it seems to be a theme when we move) so I can’t go anywhere with it. I have a whole heap of friends lined up to let me practice on them when I am mobile again so I am really looking forward to it.

The other good thing about our move is for some reason I have not been turning the lappy on every night and sitting playing games for a few hours. Instead I am reading, and knitting, and generally being productive which is awesome. And hopefully a habit I can stick with.

That is it from me. This weekend will be spent cleaning the flat so we can hand keys back, and getting the remaining bits and pieces to storage. We are also hoping to get to the Fullarton Psychic Fair for a few hours on Saturday, plus if we have any energy one of my favourite bands, Spiral Dance, is playing Saturday night so I would love to get along to that as well. But we will see how we go.

Sorry I haven’t been commenting on your blogs lately, rest assured I am reading them, just mainly on my phone and I can not comment from there.

We are Moved

Just a quick one today.

Ross & I spent the weekend moving.  Packing boxes, shifting furniture, unpacking, arranging, re-arranging...  The list is endless.  We gave it 3 full days then took a break yesterday.  There is still stuff to do at the old place, but we will deal with that next weekend.  I am surprisingly not as sore as I expected to be, but yesterday I was overwhelmingly fatigued.  Thankfully I feel ok today though.

March 10 for 10 Review

2) Ride at least 3000kms
I added only about 100 kms to the tally.  Definitely not enough.  But I am still working on it.

4) Lose 30 kilos
Lost another 1.2.  At least it is something

6) Send at least one childrens story to a publisher
Have done a class and have 2 stories that I am working on.

Not a lot of progress this month, but progress all the same.  I am sure April will be better.

PS - I have changed comments to have to be approved by me as I keep getting weird ones that I am concerned link to viruses or weird stuff.  I am sorry about this but I should approved them fairly quickly though.
