Weekend of Camping

I have had the most amazing weekend. It was brilliant.  And I know I usually share everything, but for some reason I feel like keeping a lot of this weekend to myself.  I had a few personal epiphanies and breakthroughs over the course of the 2 days, and I am still sorting through what a lot of it means. I also received several very loud messages (thank you butterflies, I understand) that I need to work through.

However please believe me when I say it was an amazing weekend.  The 2nd night we actually slept outside under the stars, something I have always wanted to do.  We also spent Saturday afternoon with two very dear friends who live not to far from the Forest that we camped in.  We went wine tasting (and bought several very yumscious wines), and just talked and laughed and truly enjoyed each other.  We haven't seen them in quite a while and it was incredible to reconnect.

My only issue with the entire weekend (aside from having to come home) is that I could not go hiking with Ross.  I actually went a little stir crazy, and spent this morning walking laps of the car park for over an hour just to try and get it out of my system. LOL My Achilles held up beautifully on the walk.  If I keep this up I should be able to hike again come January! YAY!

Here are some pics...

A very rare photo of me in a  very dorky (but very warm) hat. :o)

The nearly full moon shining through the trees.

Ninja Ross with his chiller scarf tied around his head.

Ross chillin' by the tent.

Ross stargazing, beer in hand, dork light on head...

We set up our beds outside Saturday night and slept the entire night out under the stars. The only problem - mozzies don't sleep and we left our mozzie bands home...

Sun rise through the trees. What a beautiful way to start the day.

100 Days of Gratitude - Day 6
I am grateful for amazing friends who love me and support me no matter what.  I am truly blessed to have these amazing people in my life.

Camping

Ross & I are heading off camping this afternoon for a couple of nights.  It has been ages since we have done this - too long actually.  It is so hard with Ross working in Retail to get free weekends. I think we are going to have to schedule them in next year so that we don't miss this.  I can't wait!

100 Days of Gratitude - Day 4
Today I am grateful for living in South Australia.  Just a 45 minute drive out of the city and we are in a beautiful Forrest setting where we can kick back and commune with nature for the weekend.  Perfect.

TGIF

This has been a looooong week.  Thankfully it is Friday!  YAY!  Thank you for all your kind wishes regarding Ross.  He is completely fine.  It looks like it was a virus and it is clearing up and everyone is doing well.  It is so scary when this happens though.  He feels like he wasted hospital time, however with his history he HAS to be vigilant and be wary of any pain.  I am glad we got it checked out and that all is okay.

Tomorrow I am doing a Learn Tarot class at the WEA.  I am really excited about it.  I have several sets of Tarot cards that I have collected over the years, but I have never really learned how to use them.  I feel like now is the time so off I go to class!  I have several other things like this on the go right now as well.  I am feeling more and more drawn to all things spiritual and new-age-y.  I have had a very keen interest in these areas for well over 15 years, but this year I am moving from someone with an interest, to someone who is active in this area.  It is exciting, and scary, and exhilarating all at the same time.

Next week I am doing my first Reiki session on someone outside of my immediate family.  Em has kindly donated her body to science and is allowing me to practice on her.  I hope it goes well.

Other than that I am relaxing and focusing on me.  The cooler it gets the more I tend to withdraw into myself.  Not in a negative way, in an introspective recharging way.  I love winter for that element, and I am actually looking forward to camping this winter as I am feeling more and more drawn to nature right now as well.  For a born and bred city girl, being drawn to nature is slightly obscure.  But I am trusting in my own intuition, and if nature is where I need to be, then that is where I'll be.

Other than that I am hoping to get out for a run on Sunday.  It has been 2 weeks.  I am not feeling bad about that, I just needed a break.  I have altered my planned runs to enter (in sidebar) to compensate for the fact that I need to rest and recharge.  I am looking forward to getting out there again though.

Hope everyone has an amazing Friday.  Catch you all on the weekend!

Camping

This weekend R & I took our niece K camping. It was her birthday pressie - even though her birthday was in July. :o)

We went to Kuitpo Forest in the Adelaide Hills. It is a beautiful place. Normally... This weekend it wasn't so great, although we did have fun. The camping ground was full of families, which is wonderful, but it was also full of loud mouthed drunken yobbos who spent the entire evening setting off fire crackers and hooning around.

But the worst part was that the one and only long drop (camping toilet built over a very very deep hole in the ground for those of you not familiar) was full. Yes, you read it right. It was full. There is nothing more disgusting than having to go to a toilet where the 4 metre deep hole in the ground is filled with "toileting"... By this morning it was even worse with many of the drunkards having become "ill" overnight and using the long drop to vomit.

Moving on though, we did have a great time. K is 12, so she is at a great age. We kind of got a bit 'misplaced' heading there... As in, we didn't take a map and I picked the wrong turn off. I kept swearing that the roads looked familiar. And they did. Because they took us to a friends farm 30 kms further on than where we were meant to be. :o)

So by the time we got there it was quite a bit later than we had anticipated. We set up, then got the fire burning so we would have good coals to cook in later.

We spent the afternoon and evening talking, laughing, cooking, playing games (Uno and Pictionary the current games of choice), and just generally having fun.

After dinner we had to have Marshmellows, after all, what camping trip would be complete without roasted marshmellows over the open fire. Plus, fire ban season is about to start so we had to enjoy it while we could as there will be no more fires for several months.

We had a great time. This is the first time we have been camping with another person. It is one of those activities we really like to enjoy on our own, however it was great having an extra person there. We have invited her to join us again.
